Trade-gap indicator: South Africa's headline gold mirror-gap (the often-cited ~67% / $78bn figure) is predominantly a gold-reporting and refining/re-export artifact — UNCTAD later walked back its own number; a separate artisanal-gold concern is real but differently sourced.
